The medicine ball is one of the oldest pieces of training equipment still in daily use, and it has survived because almost nobody is excluded from using one. Rehab clients, group exercise classes, athletes and older members can all be given a medicine ball and a sensible exercise within about thirty seconds.
Standard medicine balls, 1kg to 10kg
Sold in 1kg increments, which is the detail that makes them so useful in a mixed-ability setting — you can progress someone from 3kg to 4kg rather than doubling the load. Firm enough to throw and catch, with enough grip to hold through rotational work, chops and partner passes.
Double-grip medicine balls, 6kg to 10kg
Moulded handles on either side change what the ball can do. Swings, chops, loaded carries and controlled rotational work all become safer to coach, because the member is not fighting to keep hold of a smooth ball while moving at speed. A sensible addition once your classes go beyond basic throws.
Storage
Our medicine ball rack holds up to ten balls in a single footprint. Medicine balls are the classic example of equipment that rolls away and ends up under a bench — a rack pays for itself in balls not lost.
