Studio dumbbells live a different life to the ones on the gym floor. They get handed out to a full class, used for high-rep work, dropped on a wooden floor and put away again forty minutes later. That means lighter weights, colour coding people can pick out across a room, and a finish that will not mark the floor.
Neoprene or urethane?
-
Neoprene studio dumbbells, 1kg to 8kg — a soft, grippy coating that is comfortable to hold for long sets and easy to clean down between classes. The most economical way to kit out a studio.
-
Urethane studio dumbbells, 1kg to 10kg — a harder, more durable finish that resists tearing and holds its colour far longer under heavy class use. Worth the difference in busy timetables.
Both are sold in pairs, in 1kg steps, so you can build the exact spread your classes need rather than buying a fixed set.
Storage that survives a class changeover
Studio racking has one job: get thirty pairs of dumbbells away in the four minutes between classes. Our mobile studio rack on wheels is the usual answer for multi-use rooms — wheel it out for the class, wheel it back to the wall after. Vertical racks in 10-pair and 18-pair sizes suit rooms where the dumbbells stay put.
Buying for a studio
Order by class size, not by weight range: you need enough pairs at 2kg, 3kg and 4kg for everyone to have a set, and only a handful at the top end. For heavier work see our commercial dumbbell range.
